Scheduled Trip - Florence- Italian Renaissance

The Magnificent Medicis of Florence

April 6-13, 2011 $3100 (including airfare from major gateways)

During a springtime week in the heart of Tuscany, we have you reliving and revisiting the golden age of the Renaissance. This trip is designed to explore the art and architectural art history by capturing the “fire” of Florence past and present.

From the Palazzo Vecchio, constructed in 1299, the home of the Florentine guilds and the heart of Florentine culture, to the Duomo and Baptistery, to the works of  Michelangelo, Botticelli and di Vinci, the principal painter of the Medici family, Florence is a treasure cultural treasure!

Set along the Arno River, the skyline is accented by Brunelleschi Duomo and Giotto’s Bell Tower. Florence flourished in the 15th century from Ponte Vecchio, to  the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, the Basiclica of San Lorenzo, the Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo’s David. The art is complimented in every way by the vitality of the Italians and their exquisite cuisine.

High-end shops and restaurants are punctuated by farmers’ markets and the daily San Lorenzo Market.

Enjoy sipping espresso under the loggia as Professor of Art, Bob Rhoades, helps you get to know the past and present Florence.
